Ms Janine Beauchamp is a professional architect working for Designworkshop for the past 15 years, based in Durban. Beauchamp decided early that she will be studying toward a degree in architecture. After completed the five-year degree, she started working at Designworkshop and is currently an Associate. She forms part of a core team involved in over and above architectural projects and includes management and marketing. Beauchamp’s advice to architectural students is that architecture is a life of hard work, with the pressure of a deadline around every corner. However, every day can bring new possibilities and new learnings [logic, space-making, composition, optimisation, delight]. It is a wonderful opportunity to gift either the society of a household or a business or a nation with spaces and solutions that could radically impact or complement their everyday lives. The design module was her favourite (and the most difficult), and enjoyed the design classes presented by Dr Theresa Hardman and Mr Andrew Palframan.
