School of Architecture

Departments: Architecture, Architectural Technology and Interior Design

Focus: The Nelson Mandela University Department of Architecture critically engages with the making of humane architecture with a balance between theoretical and pragmatic approach shaped by the social, economic and ecological informants with a locally rooted but globally inspiring architecture.

 

School of Built Enviroment and Civil Engineering

Departments: Building and Human Settlement Development, Civil Engeering, Construction Managment, Quantity Surveying.

Focus: The building and construction industry is a dynamic industry with many opportunities for self-motivating and dedicated hard working people.

The industry is becoming more technically sophisticated and computerised which has resulted in a growing demand for suitable trained professionals.

 

School of Engineering

Departments: Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Marine, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics

Focus: The School of Engineering offers a variety of academic programmes including Higher Certificates, Bachelor of Engineering Technology degrees, a Bachelor of Engineering degree, Master’s and Doctoral degrees.

Aspects of basic science, engineering science and mathematics are integrated with applied technologies in the respective fields to ensue well balanced qualifications to ensure maximum employability and to serve the needs of industry. The teaching, learning and research experience is enriched by practical and research work in excellent laboratories and active engagement with local, national and international universities.

 

School of Information Technology

Departments: Applied Technologies, IT Management and Governance, Network Engineering, Software Engineering.

Focus: The vision of the school is to be the leading provider of sta te of the art Information and Communication Technology expertise in South Africa. The undergraduate programmes are designed to give students an adequate grounding in the fundamental principles underlying their chosen field of study, while at the same time emphasizing the practical and applied nature of the subject matter.
